A small studio, on purpose

Ten people, four workshops, forty pieces per run.

The short version

We got tired of clothes that lasted one season

RocketComer started in 2016 in a one-room studio, with one coat and a list of mills. The idea was narrow and has not changed: make a small number of things properly, in materials that improve with wear, and keep making them until they stop being good.

We do not run a seasonal calendar with sixty new styles. We make around thirty-six pieces at a time. When a run of forty sells out, we decide whether to cut it again — and about a third of the time we do not.

Everything is sold here and in the studio. No wholesale, no marketplaces, no outlet channel. That is what lets us keep the margin sane and the prices where they are.

Materials

Where things come from

Wool

Woven at a mill in Biella, Italy, from Australian and South African fleece. Mulesing-free, and traceable to the farm on request.

Leather

Vegetable-tanned in Tuscany, a by-product of the food industry. Tanned with bark rather than chrome, which is slower, smells better and ages rather than cracks.

Knitwear

Knitted outside Porto on 7- and 12-gauge machines. Cashmere is sourced through a Scottish spinner working with Inner Mongolian herders.

Packaging

Recycled card, paper tape, no plastic. The dust bags for the leather goods are cotton offcuts from the shirting run.
